This all brings me to what I heard on ESPN this morning, the NBA is the top level of competition, and therefore they should go pro.
No one can say that the NBA is not the top most level of competition in the sport of basketball. There are no Toledo's or Coppin States in the League. However, I do not look at the NBA as more of a challenge to a coach. Winning might in fact, be harder in the college ranks. Think about it, there are a whole lot more teams to face, and to win a championship you must string together victories, none of this best of "best of". And since the pros have better talent, who do you think wins with less? John Wooden had his Abdul-Jabbar, but his teams couldn't match with Phil Jackson's Jordan, Pippen, and Rodman. All of this is even without mentioning recruiting! You can't simply buy the best players (legally), a good college coach is also an excellent recruiter.
So is the NBA the next step on the ladder? Possibly. But it really, it's a different sport when you are in East Lansing.
